Whitethorn ladies North West Morris


Whitethorn Morris are a North West Morris side from Watford. The side was formed in 1977 and dances in a characteristic red, white and blue kit. The dances are predominantly from the North West of England, especially Lancashire and Cheshire and are performed in the style of north west London in inimitable Whitethorn fashion.

Whitethorn has performed at:

  • Many festivals nationwide including Wimborne, Chippenham, St Alban's and Swanage Festivals
  • Europeade in Quimper, Brittany
  • Prague Folklore Days in the Czech Republic

Whitethorn kit


The Whitethorn kit was redesigned in 2022 and has now been adapted to reflect the changes adopted by the side for the 2025-2026 season and beyond.

Whitethorn’s ladies kit is now a white collarless blouse, navy blue skirt or smart dark blue trousers and red waistcoat. Also black hosiery, clogs or smart black shoes or black trainers, red, white and blue beads, bells on wrists and feet and the Whitethorn badge on the waistcoat.

Kit for the men is corduroy or smart navy blue trousers, a blue striped or white collarless shirt, red waistcoat, black shoes or clogs. Red neckerchief and flat cap preferred for band only members. Beads optional, Whitethorn badge on the waistcoat.
